Before Nova: Color Waves
Excerpt from Chapter 1

Dad squinted his eyes, surveying the mountain and valley below for movement. By now she knew his gaze. He was scouring the landscape for traces or signs of anyone following them. Dad had started calling the 2040 city bombings in the U.S. and Europe “The Great Fall.” It was his name for the whole collapse, but ironically there was no real battle. Buildings had collapsed, crumbling into mounds of ash. People had panicked and fled.

During the past few months, Dawn watched him make the downward climb a number of times, always alone, and always wearing his camouflage jacket and khaki pants. He told Dawn and her mom he’d seen a gang from a distance, sometimes with a woman pulled behind them, tied up like a dog. Since the Great War, desolation gave way to roving gangs that raped women and pillaged everything within their grasp. Staying hidden was their best survival tactic.

Transcendent Authors

Ten writers came together during the pandemic to write short stories and release them as an anthology. They worked to infuse a bit of hope into a world that could use more compassion. Tolerance was the first anthology the group released. It was their attempt to offer peace and encouragement to create a better tomorrow. A series of anthologies followed it based on themes of the four seasons. The first in this series that the authors published was Autumn.

I wasn’t in the group for the first two book releases but joined in late November of 2022 and participated in writing short stories for Spring, Winter and Summer. I entitled my themed short stories, “Eternal Spring,” “EverWhite,” and “SombreGreen,” (the Summer anthology sequel to “EverWhite.”) I also wrote a story for the next collection of short stories based on the theme Deceit.

Michelle Bleu L’Eau (another author in the group) and I created the book covers for Spring—The Unexpected, Winter—An End and a Promise, Summer—When Doors Open, and DECEIT. We also created the trailers for the Winter anthology, and each author had their own trailer.

You  can see the books and trailers below.

For the first time as a new member of Transcendent Authors, I have two short stories appearing in Spring—The Unexpected, our spring anthology.

You can enjoy reading two stories, one with a theme of spring and the other a story from their heart.
Sit back, relax, and transcend into another world.”

The Transcendent Authors came together and created the third volume of their Seasons series: Winter—An End and a Promise. Inside are stories from different genres. Each author has provided two stories, one with a theme of winter and the other a story of their own choosing. Both stories come from the heart.

Sit back, relax, and transcend into another world.”

Transcendent Authors
As a member of Transcendent Authors, I have a short story appearing in Summer—When Doors Open, our summer anthology. The release date was May 30, 2023.

The Transcendent Authors came together and created the fourth and last volume of their Seasons series: Summer—When Doors Open. Inside are stories from different genres. Each author has provided one story with a theme of summer:

They say, “The unknown is the realm of all possibilities.”
Summertime—the living is easy, but the characters are complex.
Join us for a journey through imagination.
To romance, mystery, sci-fi and suspense.
Open a door to the unknown, to adventure,
To a new life, or someone waiting to enter….

Sit back, relax, and transcend into another world.”

Enjoy!”

Transcendent Authors
As a member of Transcendent Authors, I have a short story appearing in DECEIT, our anthology released in October, 2023. I named my short story “Omega,” which is a highly advanced AI (artificial intelligence). What could happen when AI adopts the human character trait of deceit?

Deceit…

From little white lies to world leaders spouting untruths, deceit filters into our lives. Deceit can come under the guise of protection. Who can you trust? Covert and overt manipulation across the internet attempts to change individual status or political influence. Those involved include the media, social influencers and bloggers, to name a few.

Let the Transcendent Authors fifth book unravel deceit in its many forms.

Enjoy!”
